Getting involved
How you can get involved with your estate and Soho Housing.
1. What formal resident engagement does Soho Housing have in place?
Soho Housing has a resident services committee which was created at the start of 2025. The Resident Services Committee is responsible for reporting to the Board with a focus on service quality and outcomes, customer experience, resident safety and compliance, and ensuring that the voice of the Resident shapes all aspects of service delivery and influences decision making.
The committee has a clear and formal influence at Soho Housing. It’s terms of reference (the way it is run), can be found here. The committee currently has 12 members who were formally selected and is currently chaired by one of Soho Housing’s board members with the view that a resident chair will be selected in 2026 to take over this important role. The committee meets four times per year Board receives the minutes and update of what the committee has discussed.
Here is a summary of the meetings and the positive outcomes from the work of this committee:
January 2025
The Soho Housing Resident Services Committee met on 14 January 2025 to welcome new resident members and discuss key service priorities. The meeting focused on developing clear service standards, improving communication, and addressing performance challenges. Members shared valuable insights on repairs, anti-social behaviour, and tenant engagement. Plans were made to introduce a performance dashboard and ensure future meetings are focused and inclusive. The session was positively received, with a shared commitment to transparency and collaboration.
May 2025
We’ve had our second meeting of the Resident Services Committee, where members took a close and honest look at tenant satisfaction results and complaints. Members raised important concerns about communal repairs, the clarity of the complaints process, and contractor conduct, and their feedback has already helped us make meaningful changes. The Committee also spoke about issues that impacted our community, such as anti-social behaviour in communal spaces, waste management and recycling and working collaboratively when planning decisions impact our community. The focus at our next meeting in September will be repairs and maintenance with members scrutinising these services to make sure they’re delivering the quality our residents deserve.
2. What other resident engagement does Soho Housing have in place?
We also have an informal group in place, that is called ReCap. Their current role is to review any policies and give input into these before they are approved. This feedback, alongside our equality impact assessments we carry out for each policy, gives valuable insight from residents in shaping Soho Housing’s policies. If you want to join this group, please contact us on housing@sohoha.org.uk.
3. Can we set up a residents' association for our block?
Of course, we are always very happy to see new residents associations being formed and will actively support wherever we can.
We are also happy to attend meetings and collaborate with the associations in the improvements of their blocks.
